It seems that librarians get so much flack from people that don't even use libraries. I wonder how many other professions feel the need to defend their existence...
No matter where you go, you have to defend their existence. My husband is an EMT and firefighter and he has had to justify his time spent on calls! Librarians will ALWAYS been needed, however their role will shift over time. It is very important that librarians flow with the changes because it can really be harmful and the library to the patrons if a librarian stays stuck a decade before. Librarians need to be flexible and non-resistant to change, no matter how fast it is going!
